Sounds of Hope

We often eat at small Chinese carry-out restaurant that has a few tables.  I always laugh when my husband says “Oh we know the best Chinese restaurant.”  To me, it’s not really a restaurant, it’s a small carry-out place that happens to have a few tables.  However, it is clean and the food is good.  My husband and I always get the same thing – we share General Tso with extra white rice.  When we come in, they just nod.  They know our order and us.  Most of the other customers come in reciting their phone numbers and get a bag of food to go. Sometimes they forget to give us our fortune cookie.  We always ask for them.  It’s become quite a ritual.  Our son made up a “ritual” for them.  We open them.  We break them.  We eat half before we look at the fortune.  After we’ve chewed the first half, we read the fortune.  If we agree, we eat the other half.  So far, we’ve always agreed.  Several times lately, I’...

I posted a quick status update on Facebook yesterday.  It really wasn’t a big deal.  It was just one of my venting times.  Sort of like the big sigh when you mumble under your breath…but this time the mumble was broadcasted by my fingers on Facebook.  Foolish me J Not as foolish as I am sometimes.  I do think before I post, but… sometimes the knee jerk or should I say finger jerk reaction gets the best of me.  I’ve even been known to write a blog or two I had to later delete because of regret.  Oh well… most of you love me anyway. It’s always interesting how expectations and feelings get mixed together with disastrous outcomes.  Someone I love felt snubbed.  The other person I love didn’t know they had been the snubber.  Rather than let it just work itself out, as I am sure it would have since they love each other too, I decided to play peacemaker.  I thought I’d help the process along.  I am a fixer by nature.  While I ...
